State Assembly Bill 1825 Requirements

  • Coverage of relevant federal and state law
  • Description of remedies available to victims of sexual harassment
  • Explanation of prohibitions against and the prevention and correction of sexual harassment
  • Information and practical guidance to be provided to the learners
  • Practical examples to instruct supervisors in the prevention of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation
  • Training to be effective and interactive

The training must be "interactive," requiring participation by the trainees. Video training would not be sufficient without:

  • Discussion, role-playing
  • Question and answer session or other similar techniques

Your company’s employee handbook or posted policy on Sexual Harassment can be recommunicated to employees during the training session along with explanations about the interpretation of the policy and consequences (constructive disciplinary steps) for violating the policy. Allow 1-hour to 30-minutes for this portion of the training. Other topics such as Violence in the Workplace Prevention, Substance Abuse Awareness or Workplace Diversity can also be incorporated with the training session. No video recording is permitted during the training sessions.
